A Study of Grounded Theory on The Recovery Process of People with Psychiatric Disabilities in Peer-support Activities

Abstract
Objective : This study examines the recovery process of people with psychiatric disabilities in the peersupport activities at the rehabilitation institute.

Methods : Based on the grounded theory of Corbin and Strauss(2008), the open coding, the axial coding, and the category and process analysis by paradigm are implemented after the coding for data analysis to utilize ATLAS.ti7, the software for analyzing qualitative data.

Results : There are 115 concepts, 46 sub-categories, and 19 categories through the open coding. The core category of the recovery process of people with psychiatric disabilities in the peer-support activities at the rehabilitation institute is ¡®to rise from the ashes of despair and to build bridges to the world like the ivy having a tenacious hold on life.¡¯

Conclusion : Based on the result of study, this study make the discussions focusing on the background to participate in the peer-support activities, the center experience from the peer-support activities, the background and factor to influence on the peer-support activities and the recovery, and the recovery process by the interaction with environment.
